A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Todd Miller sudo (Operating System Utility Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file check.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-264. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. check.c in sudo 1.7.x before 1.7.4p5, when a Runas group is configured, does not require a password for command execution that involves a gid change but no uid change, which allows local users to bypass an intended authentication requirement via the -g option to a sudo command.

The weakness was shared 01/12/2011 by Alex as Bug 668879 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-0010. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
