CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

The weakness was presented 07/17/2012 by Mario Heiderich (moz_bug_r_a4) with Cure53 as MFSA 2012-47 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Mozilla. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-1957 since 03/30/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 59998 (CentOS 5 / 6 : firefox (CESA-2012:1088)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CentOS Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120366 (Red Hat Update for Xulrunner Firefox (RHSA-2012:1088)).

Upgrading to version 14 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at mozilla.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (59998), SecurityFocus (BID 54583†), OSVDB (84000†), Secunia (SA49965†) and SecurityTracker (ID 1027256†).
