The AuthCache purge implementation in the Security component in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 6.1.0.x before 6.1.0.37 and 7.x before 7.0.0.15 does not purge a user from the PlatformCredential cache, which might allow remote authenticated users to gain privileges by leveraging a group membership specified in an old RACF Object (aka RACO).
The weakness was disclosed 03/08/2011 (Website). The advisory is shared at www-01.ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1321. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
