A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in David King vino up to 2.19.4. This affects the function rfbSendFramebufferUpdate in the library server/libvncserver/rfbserver.c. The rfbSendFramebufferUpdate function in server/libvncserver/rfbserver.c in vino-server in Vino 2.x before 2.28.3, 2.32.x before 2.32.2, 3.0.x before 3.0.2, and 3.1.x before 3.1.1, when raw encoding is used, allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a large (1) X position or (2) Y position value in a framebuffer update request that triggers an out-of-bounds memory access, related to the rfbTranslateNone and rfbSendRectEncodingRaw functions.
The weakness was published 05/10/2011 as Bug 694455 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-0904 since 02/08/2011. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
