Mozilla Gecko before 5.0, as used in Firefox before 5.0 and Thunderbird before 5.0, does not block use of a cross-domain image as a WebGL texture, which allows remote attackers to obtain approximate copies of arbitrary images via a timing attack involving a crafted WebGL fragment shader.
The weakness was shared 06/30/2011 (Website). The advisory is shared at hacks.mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-2366 since 06/03/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
