A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in HP OpenView Storage Data Protector up to 6.10 (Network Management Software). This affects an unknown part of the component HP OpenView. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. The inet service in HP OpenView Storage Data Protector 6.00 through 6.20 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via a request containing crafted parameters.
The weakness was disclosed 07/01/2011 by Core Security with CORE Security Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared at coresecurity.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-1514 since 03/23/2011. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
