phpMyAdmin up to 3.4.3.0 Libraries display_tbl.lib.php GLOBALS[mime_map][$meta->name][transformation path traversal

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in phpMyAdmin (Database Administration Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing in the library libraries/display_tbl.lib.php of the component Libraries. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Directory traversal vulnerability in libraries/display_tbl.lib.php in phpMyAdmin 3.x before 3.3.10.2 and 3.4.x before 3.4.3.1, when a certain MIME transformation feature is enabled, allows remote authenticated users to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in a GLOBALS[mime_map][$meta->name][transformation] parameter.

The weakness was presented 07/14/2011 (Website). The advisory is available at phpmyadmin.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-2508. The attack may be launched remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
