A vulnerability was found in GNOME empathy up to 2.91.91.1 (Messaging Software). It has been declared as problematic. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the theme_adium_append_message function in empathy-theme-adium.c in the Adium theme in libempathy-gtk in Empathy 3.2.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted alias (aka nickname).
The weakness was published 10/23/2011 as Bug 747599 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-3635 since 09/21/2011. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
