MySQL 5.1.x before 5.1.63 and 5.5.x before 5.5.24 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (mysqld crash) via vectors related to incorrect calculation and a sort order index.

The weakness was released 04/04/2012 as Bug 833737 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. The public release was coordinated with Oracle. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-2749 since 05/14/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
