Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Apache Tomcat up to 6.0.9 (Application Server Software). This affects an unknown code of the component Access Restriction. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-264. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
The HTTP Digest Access Authentication implementation in Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.34, 6.x before 6.0.33, and 7.x before 7.0.12 does not have the expected countermeasures against replay attacks, which makes it easier for remote attackers to bypass intended access restrictions by sniffing the network for valid requests, related to lack of checking of nonce (aka server nonce) and nc (aka nonce-count or client nonce count) values.
The weakness was released 01/14/2012 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at svn.apache.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-1184 since 03/03/2011.
