A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Wireshark up to 1.6.4 (Packet Analyzer Software). This affects some unknown functionality. wiretap/iptrace.c in Wireshark 1.4.x before 1.4.11 and 1.6.x before 1.6.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a long packet in an AIX iptrace file.
The weakness was presented 04/11/2012 as Bug 6668 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-0067 since 12/07/2011. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
The exploit is shared for download at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
