A vulnerability was found in Curtis Galloway libexif up to 0.6.20. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function exif_data_load_data of the file exif-data.c. The exif_data_load_data function in exif-data.c in the EXIF Tag Parsing Library (aka libexif) before 0.6.21 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) or possibly obtain sensitive information from process memory via crafted EXIF tags in an image.

The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
