A vulnerability was found in Rubygems Mail gem up to 2.3.2 (Programming Language Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing in the library lib/mail/network/delivery_methods/file_delivery.rb. The manipulation of the argument to with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in lib/mail/network/delivery_methods/file_delivery.rb in the Mail gem before 2.4.4 for Ruby allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the to parameter.

Upgrading to version 2.3.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
