The Multi-Authentication feature in the Central Authentication Service (CAS) functionality in auth/cas/cas_form.html in Moodle 2.1.x before 2.1.6 and 2.2.x before 2.2.3 does not use HTTPS, which allows remote attackers to obtain credentials by sniffing the network.

The weakness was presented 07/20/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.moodle.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-2357. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
