Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in cohort/edit_form.php in Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.10, 2.1.x before 2.1.7, 2.2.x before 2.2.4, and 2.3.x before 2.3.1 allows remote authenticated administrators to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the idnumber field. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incorrect fix for CVE-2012-2365.
The weakness was disclosed 07/23/2012 by Daniel Compton (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3396 since 06/14/2012. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
