The weakness was disclosed 09/12/2012 by Arthur Gerkis (psaldorn) with Chromium Development Community as APPLE-SA-2012-09-12-1 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Apple. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-3090 since 08/09/2011. Upgrading to version 10.7 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at apple.com. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Spotify as an alternative.
