NcFTP client 3.1.6 and 3.1.7, when the username and password are included in an FTP URL that is provided on the command line, allows local users to obtain sensitive information via "ps aux," which displays the URL in the process list.

The weakness was disclosed 04/20/2004 by Konstantin Gavrilenko with Arhont Ltd. as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-1948 since 05/04/2005. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1600 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
