Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in OSClass 2.3.4. This issue affects the function findBySlug of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument sCategory with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in OSClass before 2.3.5 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the sCategory parameter to index.php, which is not properly handled by the (1) osc_search_category_id function in oc-includes/osclass/helpers/hSearch.php and (2) findBySlug function oc-includes/osclass/model/Category.php. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was published 09/25/2012 by High-Tech Bridge SA with High-Tech Bridge SA (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at htbridge.ch. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-0973 since 02/01/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 2.3.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
