A vulnerability was found in Apple QuickTime up to 7.5.4 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Multiple buffer overflows in Apple QuickTime before 7.7.3 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted style element in a QuickTime TeXML file.

The weakness was published 11/09/2012 by Amir with TELUS Security Labs (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-3752 since 06/19/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
