A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 5.1.1 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the component FreeType. FreeType before 2.4.9, as used in Mozilla Firefox Mobile before 10.0.4 and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid heap write operation and memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted glyph or bitmap data in a BDF font.
The weakness was shared 09/19/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk with Google Security Team as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as not defined posting (Website). The advisory is shared for download at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-1133 since 02/14/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
