Office Viewer in Apple iOS before 6 writes cleartext document data to a temporary file, which might allow local users to bypass a document s intended (1) Data Protection level or (2) encryption state by reading the temporary content.

The weakness was released 09/19/2012 by Salvatore Cataudella with Open Systems Technologies as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is shared for download at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-3734 since 06/19/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy.
