Use-after-free vulnerability in Google Chrome before 19.0.1084.46 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors involving tables.
The weakness was released 09/19/2012 by Brett Wilson (Skylined and miaubiz) with Google Chrome Security Team as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is shared at prod.lists.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3089 since 08/09/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 59103 (FreeBSD : chromium -- multiple vulnerabilities (1449af37-9eba-11e1-b9c1-00262d5ed8ee)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165306 (SUSE Security Update for Update for Chromium, v8 (openSUSE-SU-2012:0656-1)).
Upgrading to version 6.0 eliminates this vulnerability. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Google Android as an alternative.
