A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Moodle up to 2.4.3 (Learning Management Software). Affected is an unknown code block in the library mod/assign/locallib.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a access control vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-264. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
mod/assign/locallib.php in the assignment module in Moodle 2.3.x before 2.3.7 and 2.4.x before 2.4.4 does not consider capability requirements during the processing of ZIP assignment-archive download (aka downloadall) requests, which allows remote authenticated users to read other users assignments by leveraging the student role.
The weakness was presented 05/24/2013 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.moodle.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-2079 since 02/19/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a authentication. Upgrading to version 2.3.5 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.moodle.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be patching the affected component.
