The cifs_find_smb_ses function in fs/cifs/connect.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.36 does not properly determine the associations between users and sessions, which allows local users to bypass CIFS share authentication by leveraging a mount of a share by a different user.

The issue has been introduced in 12/03/2009. The weakness was presented 06/08/2013 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-1585 since 04/05/2011. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
