Stack-based buffer overflow in the new_msg_lsa_change_notify function in the OSPFD API (ospf_api.c) in Quagga before 0.99.22.2, when --enable-opaque-lsa and the -a command line option are used, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a large LSA.

The weakness was presented 10/23/2013 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is available at git.savannah.gnu.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-2236 since 02/19/2013. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
