A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Google Chrome up to 31.0.1650.33 (Web Browser). This issue affects the function get_dht of the file jdmarker.c. The get_dht function in jdmarker.c in libjpeg-turbo through 1.3.0, as used in Google Chrome before 31.0.1650.48 and other products, does not set all elements of a certain Huffman value array during the reading of segments that follow Define Huffman Table (DHT) JPEG markers, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from uninitialized memory locations via a crafted JPEG image.
The weakness was published 11/18/2013 by Michal Zalewski with Google as 299835 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at code.google.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-6630 since 11/05/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
