A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Apple QuickTime up to 7.6.7 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects some unknown processing in the library CoreVideo.dll of the component CoreGraphics. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Untrusted search path vulnerability in the Picture Viewer in Apple QuickTime before 7.6.8 allows local users, and possibly remote attackers, to execute arbitrary code and conduct DLL hijacking attacks via a Trojan horse (1) CoreVideo.dll, (2) CoreGraphics.dll, or (3) CoreAudioToolbox.dll that is located in the same folder as a .pic image file.
The weakness was published 12/26/2013 by Haifei Li with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-1819 since 05/06/2010. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 01/18/2022).
