utils/mount.ecryptfs_private.c in ecryptfs-utils before 90 does not properly check mountpoint permissions, which allows local users to effectively replace any directory with a new filesystem, and consequently gain privileges, via a mount system call.
The weakness was presented 02/15/2014 by Marc Deslauriers (Website). The advisory is available at launchpad.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-1831. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
