A vulnerability was found in Apache HTTP Server up to 2.0.33 (Web Server). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function dav_xml_get_cdata of the component mod_dav. The dav_xml_get_cdata function in main/util.c in the mod_dav module in the Apache HTTP Server before 2.4.8 does not properly remove whitespace characters from CDATA sections, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a crafted DAV WRITE request.
The weakness was shared 03/18/2014 by Amin Tora (Neustar) (Website). The advisory is shared at ubuntu.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-6438 since 11/04/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
