A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Cisco WebEx Recording Format Player T27/T28 (Unified Communication Software). This issue affects an unknown function of the component WRF File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Heap-based buffer overflow in the Cisco WebEx Recording Format (WRF) player T27 before LD SP32 EP10 and T28 before T28.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted WRF file, aka Bug ID CSCtz72850.
The weakness was released 10/10/2012 by Core Security (Codenomicon) with Beyond Security/Core Security/Codenomicon/TELUS Security Labs Vulnerability Research Team as cisco-sa-20121010-webex as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at tools.cisco.com. The public release was coordinated with Cisco. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3941 since 07/10/2012. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
