The gdImageCreateFromXpm function in gdxpm.c in libgd, as used in PHP 5.4.26 and earlier, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash) via a crafted color table in an XPM file.

The weakness was released 03/21/2014 as Bug 1076676 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-2497 since 03/14/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
