CoreGraphics in Apple iOS before 7.1.2 does not properly restrict allocation of stack memory for processing of XBM images, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via crafted image data.
The weakness was published 06/30/2014 by Dima Kovalenko (cunzhang) with NESO Security Labs as HT6297 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated with Apple. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-1354 since 01/08/2014. The attack can be launched remotely.
