The weakness was disclosed 10/16/2012 by Juraj Somorovsky as cpuoct2012-1515893 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at oracle.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Oracle. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-1411 since 03/10/2011. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56303 (Fedora 15 : opensaml-2.3-4.fc15 (2011-12890)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 87121 (Oracle WebLogic Server October 2012 Critical Patch Update).
