A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9/10/11 (Web Browser). Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality. The weakness was presented 07/08/2014 by Abdul Aziz Hariri with Zero Day Initiative as MS14-037 as confirmed bulletin (Technet) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-2792 since 04/10/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 02/08/2022). Applying the patch MS14-037 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 13729.
