A vulnerability was found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.9.4 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component QT Media Foundation. QT Media Foundation in Apple OS X before 10.9.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted movie file with RLE encoding.
The weakness was published 09/17/2014 by Fernando Munoz, Tom Gallagher and Paul Bates (rgod) as HT6443 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1391 since 01/08/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
