APT before 1.0.9 does not "invalidate repository data" when moving from an unauthenticated to authenticated state, which allows remote attackers to have unspecified impact via crafted repository data.
The weakness was disclosed 09/18/2014 with Debian as Bug 1143815 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-0488 since 12/19/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
