A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Wireshark up to 1.12.0 (Packet Analyzer Software). Affected by this issue is the function dissect_v9_v10_pdu_data of the component Netflow Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is availability.

The weakness was published 09/16/2014 by Buildbot Builder as wnpa-sec-2014-14 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at wireshark.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-6424 since 09/16/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
