Adobe Flash Player before 13.0.0.259 and 14.x through 16.x before 16.0.0.235 on Windows and OS X and before 11.2.202.425 on Linux allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 12/09/2014 by Toshiharu Sugiyama as APSB14-27 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at helpx.adobe.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-0580 since 12/20/2013. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 79835 (Flash Player <= 15.0.0.239 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB14-27)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100219 (Microsoft Windows Update for Vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer (KB3008925)).
Upgrading to version 16.0.0.235 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 19231.
