The weakness was presented 01/06/2015 by Sasha Levin as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-9529 since 01/06/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 81566 (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS : linux-ec2 vulnerabilities (USN-2512-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
