A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Sambar Server 6.1 (File Transfer Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file showperf.asp of the component Sysadmin Web Site. The manipulation of the argument title with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Sambar Server 6.1 Beta 2 on Windows, and possibly other versions on Linux, allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the show parameter in show.asp and (2) the title parameter in showperf.asp.

The bug was discovered 06/01/2004. The weakness was released 06/02/2004 by Oliver Karow (Website). The advisory is available at oliverkarow.de. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-2564 since 11/22/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
