Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Oracle Security Service 12.1.2. This affects some unknown functionality of the component Javascript. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
The SSL protocol, as used in certain configurations in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, and other products, encrypts data by using CBC mode with chained initialization vectors, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to obtain plaintext HTTP headers via a blockwise chosen-boundary attack (BCBA) on an HTTPS session, in conjunction with JavaScript code that uses (1) the HTML5 WebSocket API, (2) the Java URLConnection API, or (3) the Silverlight WebClient API, aka a "BEAST" attack.
The weakness was shared 01/20/2015 as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2015 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oracle.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-3389 since 09/05/2011. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
