A vulnerability was found in Xangati XSR and XNR (the affected version is unknown) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file gui_input_test.pl of the component Installer. The manipulation of the argument params with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Xangati XSR before 11 and XNR before 7 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a gui_input_test.pl params parameter to servlet/Installer.
The weakness was disclosed 04/15/2014 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-0359 since 12/05/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
