A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in KnowledgeTree 3.7/3.7.0.1/3.7.0.2 (Knowledge Base Software). This issue affects the function getFileName of the component WebService. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in the get_active_session function in the KTAPI_UserSession class in webservice/clienttools/services/mdownload.php in KnowledgeTree 3.7.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the u parameter, related to the getFileName function.
The weakness was disclosed 04/22/2014 by Craig Arendt as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-2737 since 04/08/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
