The weakness was presented 11/20/2012 by Abhishek Arya (Inferno) with Google Chrome Security Team as MFSA 2012-105 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at mozilla.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Mozilla. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-4214 since 08/08/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a private exploit are known.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 63005 (CentOS 5 / 6 : firefox (CESA-2012:1482)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
