Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Host Aggregates interface in OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon) before 2013.2.4, 2014.1 before 2014.1.2, and Juno before Juno-3 allows remote administrators to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a new host aggregate name.

The weakness was disclosed 08/22/2014 by Mario Heiderich (Website). The advisory is available at review.openstack.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-3594 since 05/14/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 80638 (Oracle Solaris Third-Party Patch Update : horizon (cve_2014_3594_cross_site)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Solaris Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167495 (OpenSuSE Security Update for openstack-dashboard (openSUSE-SU-2015:0078-1)).

Upgrading to version 2013.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
