ZOHO ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer 9.0 build 9002 and 8.2 build 8020 does not properly restrict access to the database browser, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain access to the database via a direct request to event/runQuery.do.

The weakness was published 09/11/2014 by Andrea Micalizzi (rgod) as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-6043 since 09/01/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by Hans-Martin Muench and been published before and not just after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com.
