The manipulation of the argument projectname with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. Stack-based buffer overflow in Advantech WebAccess (formerly BroadWin WebAccess) 7.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the projectname parameter.

The weakness was disclosed 09/20/2014 by Ricardo Narvaja (Website). The advisory is available at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-0991 since 01/07/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
