Check Point Firewall-1 4.1 up to NG AI R55 allows remote attackers to obtain potentially sensitive information by sending an Internet Key Exchange (IKE) with a certain Vendor ID payload that causes Firewall-1 to return a response containing version and other information.
The bug was discovered 06/16/2004. The weakness was released 06/16/2004 by Roy Hills with NTA-Monitor as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-2679 since 02/26/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
