Use-after-free vulnerability in the serializeToStream implementation in the XMLSerializer component in Mozilla Firefox before 18.0, Firefox ESR 10.x before 10.0.12 and 17.x before 17.0.2, Thunderbird before 17.0.2, Thunderbird ESR 10.x before 10.0.12 and 17.x before 17.0.2, and SeaMonkey before 2.15 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted web content.

The weakness was shared 01/08/2013 by Sviatoslav Chagaev (regenrecht) with Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) as MFSA 2013-16 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-0753 since 01/02/2013. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

A public exploit has been developed by metasploit and been published 9 months after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as highly functional. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
