The hyphenation functionality in Google Chrome before 24.0.1312.52 does not properly validate file names, which has unspecified impact and attack vectors.
The weakness was released 01/10/2013 by Justin Schuh (Inferno) with Google Chrome Security Team as 167122 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at code.google.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-5148 since 09/24/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely.
